With the score knotted at 5-5 in the 10th inning of World Series Game 5, Eddie Mathews hit just the Series’ third-ever walk-off home run. The two-run shot was Mathews only playoff home run in 16 postseason appearances. The Braves would go on to win the championship in a 7-game series against the Yankees. The Yankees got them back the next season, defeating the Braves in another 7-game thriller.
